Types of Car Glass Windows

let’s examine the two market leaders in this category:

Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is utilized for vehicle side windows because it has been processed to be 10 times stronger than regular glass. Durable tempered glass is made from curved glass, which is float glass that has undergone fast cooling after being heated to extremely high temperatures. The distinction between tempered glass and laminated glass is that the latter is more prone to breaking.

Tempered glass, on the other hand, is just as secure because it shatter-proofs into small, blunt-edged pieces and cubes rather than shards to safeguard the passengers. Additionally, while tempered glass shatter completely in a mishap and needs to be completely replaced, laminated glass can be repaired. It is only used for windows and not for windshields because it does not offer the same level of padding as laminated glass.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass, a foolproof construction that has been around for a century, consists of two sturdy sheets of glass that are joined by a layer of polyvinyl butyral to form a single thick sheet. High temperatures are used to fuse these layers together, giving us an extremely strong and durable auto glass that won’t shatter in a mishap. Despite being breakable, the PVB interlayer shields the passengers by preventing glass fragments from flying around and raising the risk of injury.

Laminated glass is most frequently used to make windshields due to its special non-shattering qualities. It serves as a cushion and keeps the passenger inside the vehicle in the case of a head-on collision. In order to offer maximum strength and improved structural stability, it is utilized for both the front and back windshields of a car.
